Evergreen Lawn Care is a locally owned company that started from modest beginnings more than three decades ago.

In 1984, Gary West and David Purdy founded Evergreen Lawn Care as a lawn mowing and maintenance company, with financial backing from his friend, David Purdy.

With the business starting to take off, they quickly realized they needed more help with the business. Soon afterwards, Jim West gained part ownership of Evergreen. His commitment to quality and service quickly grew the business, and with his philosophy of always saying ‘yes’ led to an expansion of services. Jim successfully took on tasks such as landscaping, mulching, tree and shrub trimming, snow removal, and more.

In 1999, Jim bought out his partners, becoming the sole owner of Evergreen Lawn Care. He continued to add services, including hardscaping, outdoor lighting, and creating outdoor living spaces, as well as irrigation and excavation.

In 2003, Todd West, Jim’s son, came home from college to help out with the business and quickly started Weed Man of Owensboro, a locally owned franchise that provides environmentally responsible fertilization, weed control, and pest management services. Todd progressively expanded his business with Weed Man of Bowling Green in 2008, Weed Man of Paducah in 2013, and in 2017 he took ownership of Weed Man of Evansville.

In 2018 Todd bought Evergreen Lawn Care from his father, who continues to be active in the company.
